Birdwatching 4x4
After working together with Benjamin Vandewalle in their first year of studies, P.A.R.T.S. students take back his site-specific performance Birdwatching 4x4 as part of their graduation festival.
Birdwatching 4x4 uniquely combines the poetry of our daily surroundings with dancers’ interventions; reality becomes distorted and the authentic intertwines with the staged. A mobile observation box moves the audience through the city as the dancers intervene with the passing street life. As if looking through a camera lens, the view is framed, allowing us to experience these passing, fleeting moments from various unexpected angles. Through a sensory engagement, the spectator is invited to consider their individual connections to both the people they pass by and the wider world they inhabit. Our perception of reality is questioned through this play of concealing and revealing and of observing and being observed.
