HOMINIDEA

WARNING

In this solo there will be depictions of violence, male dominant agression as well as perverse depictions of sexual behaviours. A strobelight and loud sounds will be used. There will be some audience interaction possibly involving touch, especially for those who sit in the chairs closer to the center of the stage.
“It seems really very unfair that man should have chosen the Gorilla to symbolize everything that is agressive and violent, when that is one thing that the Gorilla is not, and that we are.”

I’ve done things I didn’t want to do and certain things turn me into something

I didn’t want to be.

After creating this Solo in the second year of my studies, I’ve reflected on the contents of this piece and realized that many of my beliefs and desires as a creator are no longer in line with the message I wanted to portray back then. What you will experience tonight is a reworked product of those desires.
With that said, The title Hominidea refers to the biological family that includes great apes and humans (Gorilla, Chimpanzee, Bonobo, Orangutan and Us).

What I aim is to share with you is a piece of an exploration of these species while diluting the barrier between rational and irrational beings, and one’s sensitivity and sensibility.
