Locus was created in 1975 by the American dancer and choreographer Trisha Brown. An open and arithmetical structure, Locus is similar to a generative dance system in which the dancer places herself at the center of an imaginary cube.

Each point of the cube is defined by a letter of the alphabet, allowing the dancer to be surrounded by twenty-seven points in total.

The performance consists of four dancers moving across the grid of imaginary cubes by pointing, touching or jumping over each letter-point with a different part of the body.
