Preparing for Darkness
Preparing for Darkness is a twenty-minute solo that raises questions about control and agency, the performer’s and spectator’s gaze, and social proximity. A dynamic constellation, in which the audience is both objectifying viewer and physical container, forms the solo’s setting. In the middle of this container, two consecutive movement phrases unfold steadily, both sculptural in their form and structured by L’Etranger by Albert Camus.
