The Rünno Song

Since its conception, the Rünno Song, notorious for its complex rhythms and lyrics, has invited multiple interpretations. Some have considered it a call by a higher force; a reprimand; or an attempt to silence the expansive man that is Rünno. Others have viewed it as the earthly lamentation of a human life; or even the mockery of its meaninglessness.

Whatever your view on this matter might be, we welcome you with open arms and warmly invite you to sing along when you feel called to it.

The Rünno Song has given its name to this performance because of its importance in veiling the piece’s autobiographical elements. A whole set of tools, in which layering is key, has been mobilized and established for this purpose. The Song is not interested in a storytelling practice. Instead, it wants to see how layers collide, intersect, and create new spaces and imaginaries. It wants to escape the linear narrative of a human life in retrospect, and allow its body to vibrate, echo and shiver in space and mind.
