A shooting star by Dominique Lancastre

Writing is an intiate dialogue with ourselves. It allows us to know yourself better and to understand our emotions and motivations. It’s a space of freedom where we can expresses our joy, our grief and hopes without judgment. 

It’s creation. 

Writing gives life to a parallel universe and characters who look like you or not.You can explore the limits of your imagination and push back the boundaries of our own reality. We become at the same time creators and explorers of our inner worlds. 

Time is what we are feeling in the deepest of our souls. It’s a subjective time which runs differently according to our emotions, our experiences and our mental states. Our perception of time is influenced by our rage, our culture, our memories and our future projects. It’s the temporality of memories, expectations, regrets and hopes.

This shooting star represents the transience of the moment. She evokes the notion of time passing and precious moments which evaporate. The performance explores the meanders of memory. A shooting star is the appearance and disappearance of light. She is contrasting with the obscurity of the night. This duality is a pillar of the piece. The shooting stars are a universal phenomenon, sometimes unique or shared. It’s in connection with this solo which navigates through tension between the individual and collective experience.
